Youth Community Service Awards

In 2004, The Amherst Club established an Endowment Fund with the objective of serving the greater Amherst community well into the future.  (Bequests and contributions to the Endowment Fund are tax deductible and welcome at any time.)

In 2015, we announced the first charitable distributions from this fund.

Offered in partnership with the Amherst Boys' and Girls' Club, these awards are designed to reward and encourage volunteerism and community service in youth of the Amherst area.

Community service refers to a significant contribution of volunteer time, energy, and/or talent that fosters community well-being.

  • The High School award is $700 given to the recipient, with a $50 contribution made to the local non-profit agency of their choice.
  • The Middle school award is $200 given to the recipient, with a $50 contribution made to the local non-profit agency of their choice.

Eligibility:

  1. The applicant must be middle- or high-school age.
  2. The applicant must currently live within the borders of the Amherst Regional School District.

Selection criteria:

The emphasis for award selection is on meaningful volunteer service that demonstrably fosters collective well-being. Additional weight will be given to activities that focus on providing benefit directly to the Amherst area community, but other volunteer service will also be considered.

The deadline for requests in 2015 is May 31.
