President Roger Webb called the meeting of the Amherst Club to order at noon on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014, and welcomed us all.

Roger noted that there will be a board meeting today after lunch. There will be NO lunch meeting on Tuesday, August 12th.

An envelope will be passed around today for Nuttelman’s Florists, whose daughter’s wedding money was stolen from their store recently.

Snapshot:

Amanda Roberts remembered an incident from when she was a young mental health worker at a locked ward in a San Francisco hospital, encountering a disturbed patient who taught her that she had a lot to learn from her patients – and she must not take herself too seriously!

Speaker:

Tony Papirio introduced Nikhil S. Malvankar from the UMass Depts. Of Physics and Microbiology, who spoke on Imaging Electrons to Fight Diseases, about his state-of-the-art research across two disciplines.

Raffle:  Bonnie Isman won the wine and Linda Papirio, Tony’s wife, won the $10.
