The Amherst Club

April 13, 2010

Notes

First, the good news.  The butternut squash soup was especially delicious today.  Zina Tillona has come over to the bright side and  is now using an iMac desktop computer.  And best of all, Jacquie Price returned to the Club today after a long and complicated recovery from her surgery.

The unhappy news is that member Nancy Foster and former member Joanne Chandler were involved in a serious car accident over the weekend; Nancy is in critical condition at Bay State.  Members at lunch signed cards for both of our friends.

Arnold Friedmann and Dean Poli spoke to us about Five College  Learning in Retirement.  It was a bit like carrying coals to Newcastle; many of our members are active participants in  LIR.  And active participation is the key to the character of LIR - its members teach and learn from one another in seminars and other activities and projects.  A brief  video captured the essence of the organization.

More information about LIR and its activities can be found at www.5clir.org
